I am using a Psion 5mx and Windows XP and have, until recently been able
(using PSIwin) to transfer information from one to the other.

Currently I am unable to connect. The icon bar at the bottom of the XP
desktop screen shows the horizontle line but when right click on it and
click "connect" I get the connecting box and then the Connect problem box.

Can anyone help me to establish handshaking once again please.

If you're running anything in the background that's soaking up spare CPU
cycles, stop it. Such things include ***@home, boink, ***@home, etc,
etc. They can be restarted after the connection is established.

Once again I am asking for help to get the handshaking software PSIWIN.
Someone helped me on the way and I had it up and running but then got a
virus and lost everything and I cannot remember how I did it.
